The Jerry Goldsmith Awards to amateur composers were born with the vocation to acknowledge and support the work
of those composers who are starting in the audiovisual media.
Well-known are the difficulties amateur composers have to face in order to carve a niche in the world of the cinema,
never managing to make a name for themselves while working for short films or documentaries and even after working for
the first time on a full-length feature film.
The International Film Music Congress “Ciudad de “Ubeda” wishes to devote some well-deserved space to them, so that they
can be adequately appreciated as well as earn prizes for their compositions. We bet on the future of these composers and
want them to count on our support from their very first creative steps.
These awards comprise of several categories that account for the great creative diversity of these amateur composers.
The prize is named after no other than one of the most legendary composers in the history of film music, Jerry Goldsmith,
the man behind some of the most memorable scores ever to grace a film, as well as an indisputable referent in the history of cinema.
In its first edition, Oscar Xiberta won the most important award – that of best novel composer -, whereas German Christoph Zirngibl earned it in its last edition.
We encourage all composers to enter the competition, whatever the category you choose.
